Insurance F.A.Q.

Q. Will my insurance cover Wheelchair and Stretcher Van Transports?

A. No. Medicare and Private Insurance Companies will not pay for Wheelchair or Stretcher Van Transports. Medicaid may cover these transports. Contact us for more information.

Q.  Why do I have two bills on the same date?

A. If you were Transported to a facility and back to your home that is two trips. One trip to take you there and one trip to take you home.

Q. Why am I being charged when I did not ride the Ambulance?

A. If you call for Transport and then refuse to go when we arrive, we charge a response fee, because we have taken an Ambulance out of service to respond to your call.

Q. Why doesn’t my insurance cover transportation to a Doctor’s Appointment?

A. Most Insurances do not cover Non-Emergent transportation. They believe it is more economical for the Doctor to come see you.

Q. My Insurance said you billed them wrong.

A. We have to bill your Insurance according to CMS guidelines. We cannot bill for an emergency when it is not.

Q. I am a Medicaid patient, why am I getting a bill?

A. If your transport was for a Non-Covered service, you are responsible for that bill.

Tip:
Always refer to your Insurance policy for your specific benefits. We can answer most of your Insurance questions. However the best way to make sure that your Insurance will cover Ambulance transportation is to call them.
